What is Renewable Energy?

Renewable heating is quite simply a method of converting natural resources such as the sun and the air into energy. This not only protects the environment from harmful emissions (created by fossil fuels) but also, importantly, offers you the benefit of reduced heating bills and a more efficient form of energy for your home.

Gaswise are accredited under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) and approved to supply and install a wide range of Renewable Heating products, including Solar PV (Photovoltaic) for electricity generation, solar thermal water heating systems and Air Source Heat Pumps.

Currently in the UK just under half of our carbon emissions are created by heating buildings and water. Over 99% of this is predominantly supplied by fossil fuels (oil, gas, coal etc) and less than 1% is supplied by renewable energy.

Gaswise Services supply, install and maintain the following three types of renewable system:

Solar PV Electricity Generating Systems

Photovoltics (PV) is a highly efficient method of generating electrical power for your home or business by converting natural sunlight into electricity via solar panels. The electricity produced by Solar PV can drive any appliances that are powered by conventional electricity supplies.

Thanks to advances in technology the cost of installing Solar PV systems have fallen since steadily since the first solar cells were manufactured and will offer you a cost effective and clean alternative energy source for your home or business. For the environmentally conscious consumer, photovoltaic systems actually recoup the energy needed to manufacture them within 1 to 4 years!

The location of solar panelling is vitally important as they require the maximum amount of sunlight available in order to work effectively and we will offer you expert advice on the options available to you to compliment your existing energy supply with Solar PV.

A 1.80kW Solar PV system (e.g. 10x180W modules) should produce approximately 1,693kW of electricity per annum (although this will vary depending on location) – putting this into perspective, the average household will use around 3,650kW per annum.

Solar Thermal Water Heating

Solar Thermal heating offers you a clean and highly efficient method to provide hot water for your property by using renewable energy from the sun.

Many people believe that solar panels only work in the summer however this type of energy is available all year round. From May through to September, Solar Thermal could actually produce 100% of the energy required for heating water in domestic properties and work not only with direct sunlight but also diffused sunlight, therefore working on cloudy days. Key features include...

  • Complete Solar Thermal kits available starting from one-collector systems
  • Generates up to 70% of your hot water requirements annually
  • Opportunity to benefit from the Renewable Heat Incentive (click here) [link Intro]
  • Integrates easily with existing heating systems including Combi-Boilers
  • Two styles available to choose from – High quality silver annodised finish or bronze
  • On-roof, In-roof and flat-roof panels available in both portrait and landscape

Our fully trained installation team will offer you free advice and a no obligation quotation for complimenting your current water heating to Solar Thermal and can be contacted on 01553 769404 or by clicking here to email your enquiry.

Air Source Heat Pumps

Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) will offer you a very realistic alternative to conventional fossil-fueled heating systems, therefore avoiding upward spiralling energy costs benefitting you with annual savings on your fuel bills.

What are Air Source Heat Pumps?

Using basic thermodynamic principles to convert latent heat within the ambient air into heating energy, Air Source Heat Pumps provide your property with heating and hot water more efficiently than alternative methods, as well as producing lower carbon emissions than fossil-fueled systems. Gaswise specialise in Air-to-Water type which release the energy into a water circuit which is then used in a wet heating system (radiators and underfloor).

How efficient is Air Source heating compared to traditional methods?

We will offer you advice and guidance in selecting the optimum system for your property and supply you with a free, no obligation quotation – for further information please contact Mark Neal on 01553 769404 or click here to email your enquiry
